I bet you didn't know this

I bet you didn't know this but my kids invented Lemon Coke. I was reminded of this today at the grocery store. Since summer is here, Joshua and Jessica will now be my companions on the weekly grocery shopping trip. I think it might be good for them to go, especially when Joshua commented "You do this EVERY week" when he saw the final amount. Maybe he will appreciate the food we have a little more.

Anyway back to my story. So about 2 years ago we were at a restaurant in Atlanta with some friends. Jessica took the lemon from my tea (sweet of course) and I had allowed them to have a coke that night. So she starts "experimenting" and squeezing the lemon in the coke and having Joshua do some taste testing etc. Well they were quite pleased with themselves and felt that they had come up with something new. I jumped on board and said, "Wow I bet Coke would love to know about this I will give them a call tonight and tell them what you came up with." They actually believed me. So a few days later we were at the store and I told them that Coke loved the idea so much they were going to make some, so we checked back in the soft drink aisle and there... it... was.... LEMON COKE. I wish I had a picture of Jessica's face when she saw it and of course Joshua started commenting on how they better pay us for the idea. (my little accountant) So I had a little chuckle inside and moved on. I even had my mom call them and mention to the kids that she had tried this cool new drink lemon coke, had they heard of it. My mom is always willing to get in on a scam.

Skip ahead 2 years to this morning at the store. Jessica said, "Hey do you remember when I invented Lemon Coke?" Joshua (not to be out done) says, Hey! I helped, I was the taste tester and told you to add more lemon, and they never paid us" So we quickly had to get to the soft drink aisle and look for it. It... wasn't... there... bummer. I told them that maybe it wasn't popular enough, so then Jessica said, "I guess we will just have to work on something new."

So the next time you have a lemon coke, remember to thank the Havard kids.

I LOVE SUMMER

Finally yesterday I felt like it was Summer! I love how relaxed I feel when Summer comes. Of course it takes a couple of days it seems for me to give into it all together. I have decided that Memorial Day could possible be a stay at home moms version of going "cold turkey". There is no easing into this change called Summer. No way! One day you get the kids to school, move along at your normal pace, house is quiet, straightened up, hubby is a work, etc etc, then Memorial Day weekend hits and all of sudden, Wham! EVERYONE is home, EVERYONE is taking apart your straightened house, making lots of noise, needing something every few minutes and I have moments of thinking, "What are you all doing here in the middle of the afternoon disturbing my peaceful little schedule" Then I just simply exhale, take it all in, and remember how much I love summer. No lunches to be made each evening, no clothes to lay out, no homework to go over, no rush rush rush. I get to be "fun mom" and play and not nag to get them out the door on time for school, or check and recheck the calendar so I get everyone where they need to be. When they wake up in the morning I can actually snuggle with them because I'm not scrambling to get out the door. My biggest worry is, "Gee do I have any dry, clean towels to take to the pool today?" They can stay in their cute little PJ's til noon or stay in their swimsuits til dark. Breathe it in, I love summer.

Now if the clouds will just clear I will be heading to the pool (again) and start working on my tan.

Not sure why...

Ok well I am diving into this thing called blogging, I have loved reading peoples' blogs and thought, why not, it's summer time and what else am i doing? So here goes. I feel like I need to write some sort of disclaimer or something, or "opinions expressed may not be the opinions of the entire Havard household" or I never really made great grades in grammar or literature etc. (see i am pretty sure that was a run-on).

I am really not sure why I am doing this. I have always struggled to keep a journal or even to share "deep thoughts" with other people so I honestly have no idea why this blogging thing appeals to me. Maybe it's the ability to "share" without having to actually "talk". I most certainly don't feel like i have something serious or life altering to share with you, but hey read on and I can promise you that you may have a good laugh with me or at me and if you know me you do know you will get that loving "straight shot" or as Chris says, my "HSO" Hot sports opinion for you non ticket listeners.

So for the sake of my self esteem, keep the comments positive to begin with then if I actually keep it up you can go ahead and let me have it and correct my grammar.
